## What does MVP do for creators, and how is it paid?

MVP negotiates your brand deals, runs your accounts across platforms and deals with impersonation and bad press. It takes an agreed share of the income earned, and your accounts stay yours.

- **What MVP does for you**: It negotiates brand deals and runs your accounts across platforms. When you want to change direction, for example onto a new platform or into a brand of your own, it helps you plan the move. If you face fake accounts, online abuse or a contract dispute, it deals with them. You focus on content, and you make the final call on big deals and public statements.
- **How MVP is paid**: No upfront fees of any kind: no signing, onboarding, training, incubation or packaging fee. Applying is free, and so is the diagnosis before signing, which is a look at your accounts, income and existing contracts. MVP is paid only by a share of deals that actually earn: 15% to 30% goes to MVP and the rest is yours, and you see every item of income and cost. The exact share depends on the scope, is written into the contract and is shown to you before you sign. How each kind of client is charged: [how MVP charges](https://www.mvpdata.net/en/approach#faq).
- **What stays yours**: Your accounts stay in your own name, or in the name of an entity you choose, and are never moved to the company. You do not hand over your password: you give access through the platform's own feature for adding team members and can take it back at any time. When the work ends, all access comes back to you. MVP does not use your name, screenshots or numbers in its marketing.
- **How to start**: If you have at least 100,000 followers and steady content and brand deals, [contact us](https://www.mvpdata.net/en/contact). An account with 180,000 followers can apply just as one with 800,000 can. Every application gets a reply, including those that are not a fit for now.

## Which creators does MVP work with, and what does an influencer management agency do?

MVP works with creators who have at least 100,000 followers and steady content and brand deals, on platforms such as Douyin, Xiaohongshu, Weibo, Bilibili, WeChat Channels, Instagram, TikTok or YouTube. You do not need millions of followers to apply.

MVP signs a management contract with each creator. That means MVP acts as your manager: it negotiates deals and handles operations, contracts and reputation for you, and takes an agreed share of what you earn. The scope, the term, who owns the accounts, the share and the way out are written into the contract clause by clause and shown to you before you sign; so is who owns the content. The eight things to check in any management contract are in the [FAQ](https://www.mvpdata.net/en/faq#working-together).

How "influencer" and "creator" relate to the Chinese terms is in the glossary under [Influencer](https://www.mvpdata.net/en/glossary/influencer), and what a management contract is under [Talent management agreement](https://www.mvpdata.net/en/glossary/management-contract). How a management agency differs from an MCN, a network that signs creators in large numbers, is in the [comparison table](https://www.mvpdata.net/en/services#compare).

## What does MVP do as an influencer management agency?

For creators, MVP does two things first: partnerships, so that brand deals get better and steadier, and protection, against impersonation, abuse and contract risk. Strategy (deciding where the account should go), development (growing an account that already has a base) and day-to-day operations are added when you need them.

- [Personal brand strategy and positioning](https://www.mvpdata.net/en/services/strategy): MVP (Mega Volume Production, 十方众声) builds personal brand strategy for established creators, celebrities, founders and companies. It works out with you four things: what you are known for, who you speak to, what you talk about, and which deals you will not take. It suits a change of direction, a plateau, a new platform or a founder stepping forward. MVP's own team delivers a written plan you can act on.
- [Talent development: a creator incubator for proven talent](https://www.mvpdata.net/en/services/incubation): MVP (Mega Volume Production, 十方众声) runs a creator incubator for established creators, artists and experts with room to grow. It sets the direction with you and builds the content, operations, deal and risk routines that turn a growing account into a long-term career. A dedicated team stays with each client, and MVP's income comes from a share of the client's real commercial deals.
- [China social media management for public figures and brands](https://www.mvpdata.net/en/services/operations): MVP (Mega Volume Production, 十方众声) provides China social media management for established creators, celebrities, founders and companies. Its in-house team plans content, schedules posts, looks after fan communities, reviews the numbers and checks every post before it goes live, on Douyin, Xiaohongshu, Weibo, Bilibili and WeChat as well as YouTube, Instagram and TikTok. The accounts stay in your name.
- [Brand partnerships agency for creators, celebrities and founders](https://www.mvpdata.net/en/services/partnerships): MVP (Mega Volume Production, 十方众声) works as a brand partnerships agency for creators, celebrities, founders and companies. It finds brand, platform, media, entertainment and live-event deals that fit you, negotiates fees and contracts, and follows delivery and payment, all through its own team. Every deal is checked for fit with your positioning before negotiation begins. Brands looking for creators: see [cross-border influencer marketing](https://www.mvpdata.net/en/brands/influencer-marketing).
- [Celebrity reputation management and risk protection](https://www.mvpdata.net/en/services/protection): MVP (Mega Volume Production, 十方众声) provides celebrity reputation management and crisis response for celebrities, creators, founders and companies. It watches for risks, and when something goes wrong it checks the facts, prepares the response, reports false or infringing content and helps repair the damage. Public statements go out in your name, never MVP's. Long-term work includes monitoring and crisis response; a single incident can be a one-off project.

## What are the steps to working with MVP as a creator?

After you sign, the work runs in four steps: a dedicated team takes over, it negotiates deals and runs your accounts, you see the accounts and receive your share, and both sides review regularly. The five steps from applying to signing (apply, first review and reply, a meeting after an NDA is signed, diagnosis and proposal, signing) are on the [approach page](https://www.mvpdata.net/en/approach#engagement). The diagnosis is free and looks at your account data, audience, sources of income and existing contracts.

1. **A dedicated team takes over**: After signing, the same team looks after you for the long term. It starts from the annual plan agreed before signing: content, brand deals and any change of direction.
2. **Deals and operations**: The team negotiates and delivers brand deals and runs your accounts across platforms while you focus on creating. Big deals and public statements are your call.
3. **Accounts and your share**: You see every item of income and cost, and income is shared in the proportion set in the contract.
4. **Regular review and risk watch**: MVP and you look at reach, where the income comes from and how far your audience trusts you, and adjust direction. MVP keeps watching for fake accounts, abuse and bad press throughout.

## What challenges do established creators face?

Once the audience is large, creators commonly face four problems: reach that drops, income that gets harder to earn, a contract that locks them in with unclear account ownership, and risks to reputation and privacy.

- **Reach stalls, and one platform holds the risk**: A change to the algorithm or a wave of look-alike content can make reach drop without warning. A creator whose income comes from one platform carries all of that platform's rule changes.
- **Income gets harder to earn**: Rates and frequency for sponsored posts and livestream selling have a ceiling, and the more a creator takes on, the more audience trust wears thin. Income needs to move from deals priced post by post to long-term brand partnerships and a business of the creator's own.
- **Contract lock-in and unclear account ownership**: Long terms, heavy penalties and vague account clauses can take away your control just when you want to change direction. Who the account is registered to, who holds the login and what happens to it on exit should all be in the contract before you sign.
- **Reputation and privacy risk**: The bigger the audience, the more likely impersonation, online abuse and exposure of a home address or family become, and one badly handled round of bad press can undo years of work. What to do when that happens: [reputation and risk](https://www.mvpdata.net/en/services/protection).

## How do established creators pivot successfully?

A creator's change of direction works when reach turns into trust and assets that do not depend on one platform. There are three common routes.

- **From reach to brand**: Turn a personal style into a brand people recognize, such as products of your own, co-branded lines or long-term brand partnerships, so income no longer depends on the views of a single post.
- **Steadier income**: Move from ads and livestream selling priced post by post to brand partnerships signed by the year, ambassador roles (representing one brand over time), licensing (a brand pays to use your name or image) and a business of your own. How this works: [partnerships](https://www.mvpdata.net/en/services/partnerships).
- **New platforms and new roles**: Build a second source of growth on another platform, including overseas platforms such as YouTube, Instagram and TikTok, or move into acting, hosting or running a business, after checking whether your current audience will follow. MVP also runs overseas platforms and works with Chinese-speaking creators in North America and creators expanding abroad. For film and TV, see [celebrities and artists](https://www.mvpdata.net/en/ip/celebrities).

## What changes on the platforms when a creator signs with an agency?

It depends on the platform. On Douyin, Xiaohongshu and WeChat Channels, brand deals go through the platform's own official back end (Xingtu on Douyin, Pugongying on Xiaohongshu, Tencent Huxuan on WeChat Channels), and each platform has its own rules on how an agency and a creator are linked and how payment is settled. TikTok, YouTube and Instagram have their own back ends too.

So before you sign, the contract should say three things: whether your account will be linked to the agency inside a platform's back end, how payment is settled, and how the link is removed when the work ends. Each platform's rules are on [platform rules](https://www.mvpdata.net/en/platforms); what these back ends are is in the glossary under [Creator marketplace](https://www.mvpdata.net/en/glossary/creator-marketplace).

## Frequently asked questions

### Do I need an influencer manager?

Not necessarily. A creator with a stable team and healthy income can bring in outside help for a single area such as brand deals or protection. It is worth signing with a manager when deals, operations, contracts and bad press outgrow what you and a small team can handle. With MVP you can work on everything together or start with one service. What to check before signing is in the [FAQ](https://www.mvpdata.net/en/faq#working-together).

### If I sign with an agency or MCN, do I still own my accounts?

That depends on what the contract says, not on who runs the account. Before signing, confirm three things: who the account is registered to, who holds the login, and what happens to it when the relationship ends. At MVP the accounts stay in your name, or in the name of an entity you choose, and are not moved to the company. The team works through the platform's own access features, so you do not hand over a password, and all access comes back to you when the work ends. See the [FAQ](https://www.mvpdata.net/en/faq#working-together).

### How are the term and the exit of a management contract decided?

At MVP a contract usually runs for two years, and leaving early takes at least two months’ notice. Both are written into the contract and shown to you clause by clause before you sign, and you can take the contract away to go through with your family or a lawyer. The work can end when the term is up, or earlier under the conditions the contract sets out; either way the accounts are yours and all access is returned. If you are already signed with another agency you can still apply: MVP does not help anyone break a contract, and works only in areas that do not conflict, or waits until that contract ends. With any agency, check that the term is in proportion to what the agency puts in and that penalties are in proportion to real losses; see the [FAQ](https://www.mvpdata.net/en/faq#working-together).

### How does MVP share revenue with creators?

MVP takes a share only of commercial income that is actually earned. It charges nothing upfront, and you see every item of income and cost. MVP’s share is 15% to 30% and the rest is yours; the exact figure depends on the scope, comes with the proposal and is written into the contract before you sign. Ask what the share is calculated on: income before platform fees and taxes, or after. How each kind of client is charged: [how MVP charges](https://www.mvpdata.net/en/approach#faq).
